Lee Anne Blackwell has over 28 years of healthcare experience including direct patient care experience in PREOP, PACU and the OR. Her clinical experience began in the acute care setting in the emergency room and surgical services, gaining experience scrubbing and circulating multiple specialties including open heart surgery, orthopedic/sports medicine, pain management, EYE, GI, GYN, ENT, GEN, plastic/reconstruction, and podiatry. 

Later she assisted to open the first free-standing ASC in Alabama in the mid 80’s and has continued practicing in the ASC setting, serving in multiple clinical management roles. Lee Anne has developed clinical education and training programs for perioperative and perianesthesia nurses and surgical technologists and has experience with maintaining nursing continuing education provider number relations with boards of nursing in order to provide the benefit of continuing education credit required for RN license to practice and to support specialty certification education and training criteria. Lee Anne maintains active membership with AORN, APIC, ASPAN, SGNA, and IAHCSMM. She serves on the AORN Editorial Board, the AORN ASC CMS Task Force, and as an ASC advisory board member for OR Manager, a monthly publication for OR decision makers. Lee Anne has presented on various topics related to infection control, quality management, and ASC regulatory and accreditation survey readiness for AORN, the Joint Commission, and for the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA).
