PPH would like to recognize Surgical Center of the Rockies veterans

PPH would like to thank our veterans at Surgical Center of the Rockies. Dr. Ky Kobayashi, Dr. Karl Larsen, and Dr. Matthew Javernick served our country and cared for those in combat zones. Dr. Ky Kobayashi graduated from the US Air Force Academy and then served in the Air Force for many years. He has extensive experience in combat casualty care from his multiple deployments where he served in combat zones. Dr. Karl Larsen served in the United States Air Force Academy for over a decade and was stationed in Colorado Springs for six years. He performed hand surgery and held prestigious positions including Flight Commander for Inpatient and Emergency Services, Deputy Squadron Commander for Medical Operations, Deputy Chief of Medical Staff, and Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery. In 2005, Dr. Larsen was named United States Air Force Academy Clinical Surgeon of the Year. He received many decorations throughout his military career including the Aerial Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, and NATO Medal. Dr. Matthew Javernick served as an orthopedic surgeon in the United States Army. He has combat casualty care experience, including complex reconstruction and rehabilitation. He served two tours in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom as well as temporary duties during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. During his military experience, Dr. Javernick was awarded many medals of honor for his service. He held positions including vice president of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center Internship Class and Chief of several orthopaedic surgery departments.
