Moore Orthopaedic Clinic Outpatient Surgery Center first opened its doors on December 12, 2007, and they haven’t looked back.  The center, located in Lexington, South Carolina on Saluda Pointe Drive, was named after Dr. Austin Moore.  Dr. Moore performed the first metallic hip replacement surgery on September 28, 1940, at Columbia Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.  Dr. Moore is famous for the creation of the Austin Moore Prosthesis which debuted in 1952.

With four operating rooms and one procedure room, Moore orthopaedic outpatient surgery center currently provides orthopaedic, and pain management procedures.  They have 16 physicians that specialize in foot and ankle, hand, joint replacement, pediatric orthopedics, spine, and sports medicine.  The physicians at Moore perform surgeries such as shoulder, knee, hip, and ankle arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, injections, tendon repairs, ligament reconstruction, joint repairs, treat fractures and remove lesions. Moore now treats an average of 370 patients per month.

Moore originally had two operating rooms, one procedure room, and 11 physicians.  The facility was developed with patients and staff comfort in mind.  Over nine years later and they have expanded to four operating rooms, one procedure room and 16 physicians.  Moore is still making an impact on the community and has great pride in the quality services they provide. The facility is highly recommended by patients, staff, and physicians.

Staci Merritt, Nurse Manager, said “The team is like a family. They all help each other out and are cross-trained to work in multiple areas.”

The staff is highly trained and all surgical technologists have specialty certifications in their field.  Practice Partners celebrates Moore in their on-going education and training.

“The physicians have a strong level of confidence in the team.  The staff has a high level of knowledge and skill to provide excellent quality, safe and efficient surgical services for their patients,” said Lee Anne Blackwell, VP of Clinical Services for Practice Partners in Healthcare.

Moore Physicians are active in the community by serving as team physicians for local high school and college athletes.  Moore also hosts an annual golf tournament to raise money for medical equipment for area schools.
